Tomáš Hulík completed studies on Faculty of Natural Science in the academic field of environmental sciences in Bratislava. He is a natural scientist – expert on beavers. He established and administrated a scientific organization LENS. He participated in scientific and photographic expeditions in Far East of Russia, Sakhalin Island, Borneo and Malaysia. He spoke on world zoological congresses and published articles on beaver’s life. He also works in the television field as a cameraman and producer. He made several films about beavers which were shown in ORF, ZDF, ARTE and Discovery Channel. At present, he finished a documentary film about High Tatras for the Austrian television ORF. As a photographer, he is mostly interested in nature, especially animal kingdom but he also has experiences from field production (tsunami in Banda Aceh in Sumatra in 2005). He publishes in renowned magazine National Geographic (CZ), GEO (SK), Universum (AT) and in many other magazines in Slovakia and Czech Republic. He really loves recent visual art and traveling, resulting from his photographic passion, and searching suitable motives either animals which will pose in front of the photo lens “readily”.
“Unfortunately, undisturbed areas and the number of animals which would “agree” with being filmed or photographed decrease rapidly. Because of this, he pays still more attention to nature protection, so that future generations will still have the possibility to see something…”
